July figures show US hide exports still down by around 30%
Updated monthly figures for US hide exports show that, between January and July this year, packers and traders shipped 8.8 million wet-salted hides, bringing in revenues of $325.7 million.
Compared to the first seven months of last year, these figures represent a fall of 23% in volume and of 30% in value.
The figures for wet blue show shipments of just over 1.6 million hides in the January-July period in 2020, bringing in revenues of $167 million.
This means a decline of 29% in volume for wet blue exports and of 31% in value.
