Leather UK issues reminders about UK global tariff
The new UK Global Tariff (UKGT) will be in place from the beginning of next year, trade association Leather UK has reminded members, and anyone importing materials should check that they will be paying the correct tariffs. Also, the import and border process for goods arriving from the EU will be changing.

The UKGT is a schedule of taxes to be paid on goods imported into the UK from January 2021, it said, and will replace the EU’s Common External Tariff.
“The UK has left the EU,” Leather UK said. “The transition period will end on 31 December this year and the UK will leave the single market and customs union. Businesses should take action now to start preparing for new trading rules which will be in effect from January 2021.”
