Italian footwear manufacturers’ association Assocalzaturifici has announced that its Moda Made in Italy event in Munich will not go ahead this September.

Assocal said it had made the decision as part of a wide-ranging assessment of the international trade fairs it organises because of covid-19.

“The event has been an important date in the calendar of numerous footwear companies for over 25 years,” the organisation said, “playing an essential role in consolidation of the German market, which continues to be the top market for Italian footwear in Europe.”

It said it would find new ways of maintaining contact with the German market “with a physical and a digital dimension”.
