Fall in sales but Renault points to June recover and “electric momentum”

Automotive group Renault sold 1,256,658 vehicles across all its brands in the first half of 2020, a decline of 34.9% compared to the same period last year. On releasing the results, however, Renault said it had seen a sales recovering June and said it had also witnessed “strong electric momentum”.

It said its Zoe electric car was “the best-selling car in Europe”, with growth of nearly 50% to 37,540 units over the six-month period.

In the second half of 2020, the group said, it will launch further electric vehicles and new SUV vehicles in the Americas and in India.
