Leathergoods firms hope for new strategies from Florence meeting
Leathergoods manufacturers in Italy need to redouble efforts to act in unison to overcome the current crisis, according to the president of industry association Assopellettieri, Franco Gabbrielli.
Mr Gabbrielli made the comments on announcing that a ‘state of the industry’ meeting will take place in Florence on July 23. Member companies will be able to attend in person (although space is limited) or remotely.
Because of covid-19, Italy’s leathergoods manufacturers reported a 37% reduction in revenues in the first quarter of 2020 and a fall of 45% in orders.
The Assopellettieri president said he hoped the Florence meeting would inspire ideas and proposals for moving forward. Possible suggestions will include a new, common approach to securing new finance and a joint strategy for presenting Italian leathergoods in international markets.
