Circular Gucci line uses chrome-free leather
Gucci has unveiled the first of its new Off The Grid collection, which uses recycled, biobased, organic and sustainably-sourced materials, including chrome-free tanned leather.
Among the other materials used on the backpacks, accessories, footwear and more are Econyl yarn, which comprises the main material, as well as recycled brass and recycled hardware coating.
“Black leather trims [are] made from leather tanned through an alternative metal or chrome free tanning process,” Gucci said on its website, “reducing the environmental footprint compared to traditional methods”.
