Italy’s new leather law will come into force in October
Italy’s new law to protect leather’s identity will come into force on October 24.
Approved by the council of ministers at the end of May, the new decree has now been published in the government’s official journal of record, which means it will come into force 120 days later.
It appeared in the official publication on June 26, making October 24 the day it will become law.
The new law will prevent manufacturers and brands from presenting materials or products as being made from leather when they are in fact made from synthetic alternatives.
