29/06/2020

An important figure in the Italian leather manufacturing industry, Valter Ceccatelli, has died.
Mr Ceccatelli was chief executive of Tuscan tanning group Incas (Iniziative Conciare Associate), having led the group, which comprises the Incas tannery and also those of  Il Veliero and Italtan, since 1996.

He was a strong supporter of initiatives to help bring younger people into the industry, including a project called Amici per la Pelle, and of  innovations that made the tanning industry more sustainable. In 2012, Incas was one of a small group of leather manufacturers to win inclusion in a list that recognised Italy’s top 100 green companies.

On making the announcement, Incas explained that Valter Ceccatelli had been diagnosed with a serious illness in 2019. He was 63 years old.
