Donald Trump has signed an executive order to compel meat processing plants to stay open despite concerns surrounding the pandemic. The order comes in response to the growing concerns about meat shortgates and breaks in the food supply chain.

Aimed at beef, pork, poultry and egg plants, the order invokes the Defense Production Act. In sign-ing the order, these plants are deemed part of the country’s critical infrastructure.
President Trump has told reporters that his administration is working on plans to solve liability is-sues for meat processors.
