Founder of Tuscan tannery dies
One of the founders of Ponte a Egola-based tannery Lamonti, Dino Taddei, has died. He was 75.
Mr Taddei was a popular figure in the tanning industry in Tuscany and throughout Italy. He spent the whole of his working life in the industry and helped set up Lamonti in the 1970s.
Lamonti has always specialised in making leather for high-end footwear. More recently it began making leather for furniture and interior decoration too.
Local industry association, il Consorzio Conciatori di Ponte a Egola, said all of its members remembered Mr Taddei as a great worker, adding that his fellow tanners “were lucky to have known him”.
