Vienna SER meeting cancelled
A meeting at which leather-sector bodies were to discuss a new version of an industry social and environmental report (SER) has had to be cancelled.
Representative body COTANCE and its “social partner”, trade union organisation industriAll first published a SER together in 2012.
They said at the end of last year that they would work with national leather industry bodies from all parts of Europe to produce a new version of the report and announced a meeting would take place in Vienna to push this project forward.
At the start of April, however, indusrtiAll and COTANCE said they had decided that a meeting in June would be “too early to guarantee a successful, and more importantly, a safe event for all”.
In the light of the Covid-19 pandemic, they concluded that June was too soon for industry and worker representatives and other invited guests to meet face to face.
