Gruppo Mastrotto responds to Covid-19 challenge

Leather manufacturer Gruppo Mastrotto has made a donation of €100,000 to a foundation raising funds on behalf of the San Bortolo hospital in Vincenza in northern Italy. The foundation will use the money to buy protective equipment for frontline healthcare professionals working in San Bortolo and to buy machines such as ventilators to help patients there.

At the same time, the company has taken out a new specific health insurance policy for its own employees to help them if they test positive for Covid-19. In addition to financial compensation, the insurance will also cover transport from home to hospital, medical follow-up after hospitalisation, support for families including a domestic worker, assistance for children and home delivery of groceries.

Chief executive, Chiara Mastrotto, said on making the donation: “I believe the business world must stand by its local community with solidarity and support. Within our company, we are doing our best to protect our employees in such a difficult moment and taking out an insurance policy for them was the least we could do. It is time to close ranks, to do everything we can to get out of this situation as quickly as possible. When this is over, we will start again with dedication and determination”.
