Chad to repay $100 million debt to Angola with cattle
In an unconventional agreement that benefits both African countries involved, Chad is using cattle to repay a debt of $100 million to Angola.
As reported by the BBC, this works well for Chad, which is short on cash but has about 94 million head of cattle, and for Angola, which is trying to rebuild its cattle population after suffering from droughts.
According to the agreement, Angola should receive 75,000 cattle over 10 years. So far, Chad has sent more than 1000 cows to Angola’s capital and expects to send another 3500 later this month.
