Successful year for VW, but concerns on the horizon for 2020
Automotive brand Volkswagen has announced revenues of €88.4 billion for 2019, an increase of 4.5% year on year.
Part of the same group, Audi achieved sales revenues of €55.7 billion, 5.9% down on the previous year.
At the group’s other brands, there were increases of 14.5% for Skoda, reaching €19.8 billion, of 12.7% for Seat, reaching €11.5 billion, of 35.1% for Bentley, reaching €2.1 billion, and of 10.1% for Porsche, reaching €26.1 billion.
Group chairman, Dr Herbert Diess, said 2019 had been “a very successful year”. However, he said right away that 2020 was proving to be “very difficult”. He commented: “The corona pandemic presents us with unknown operational and financial challenges. At the same time, there are concerns about sustained economic impacts.”
