Another Italian tanner falls victim to covid-19
A tanner from the southern Italian cluster of Solofra, Waldemar Marcello Pompa, has died after contracting covid-19. He was 58 years old.
Local newspaper Il Mattino described him as hard-working and dedicated to his business and to his family.
Sources in the Italian leather industry said Mr Pompa had shown himself to be a pioneer in the Solofra leather manufacturing cluster, establishing contacts as long ago as the 1990s among customers in the fashion industry in South Korea and selling Solofra-produced garment leather to them.
