Government in Pakistan says no to tanners’ appeal
Pakistan’s government has rejected appeals from the country’s leather manufacturers to apply a sales tax rating of zero on exports of leather.
Industry body the Pakistan Tanners’ Association (PTA) has said the industry was already facing “severe financial crisis” and that the government’s refusal to grant the zero-rating concession will make it difficult for its member companies to overcome the losses they have incurred during the covid-19 pandemic.
