FICE president to step down
The president of Spain’s national footwear industry body, FICE, is to step down. After five years, José Monzonís will leave the role at the start of July.
FICE held its general assembly for 2020 on June 10 and announced the news of the departure of Mr Monzonís in the days that followed. It said it would take some time for it to arrange the election of a new president.
In the meantime, vice-president, Marián Cano, will head up an internal commission that will take responsibility for the running of the organisation. Ms Cano is also the president of the local footwear association in Spain’s most important shoe-manufacturing region, the Valencian Community.
On announcing his departure, José Monzonís said: “In the course of these five years at the head of this national institution, not only have I had the opportunity to see the value of Spain’s small and medium-sized, family-run companies, but also to learn about the commitment, effort, creativity and professionalism of the entire footwear industry.”
