Brazilian footwear production could decline by 30% this year
Abicalçados, the main footwear industry body in Brazil, has predicted that full-year figures for 2020 could show a fall in production among its member companies of as much as 30%.
In a recent presentation, the organisation’s head of market intelligence, Priscila Linck, said she expected that Brazilian shoe manufacturers would see production fall by between 190 million and 265 million pairs in 2020.
“This would take us back to the production levels we had 16 years ago,” Ms Linck said.
The country has around 6,000 footwear manufacturers at the moment and registered total production of around 950 million pairs in 2019
