High levels of bio content in new TFL product
Leather chemicals manufacturer TFL has brought to market Magnopal Pure A, an environmentally friendly, film-forming, bio-polymer that is based on vegetable biomass.
Tanners can use the product as “a primary ingredient” in wet-end processing, the company said.
It is free from acrylates, formaldehyde, phenol and naphthalene. The bio content of the dry matters is 93% according to the DIN EN 16785-2 method of measuring material balance.
“It has not only been designed to substitute fossil fuel-based polymers, but also offers interesting, economic application features for a wide range of different leather articles,” TFL said.
As an example, it said the new product could improve the tightness of the fibre structure in leather and was, therefore, suitable for retanning fine- and smooth-grain articles with even grain-break after milling.
