Reflective tech from TFL keeps down temps

Sun reflective technology from leather chemicals manufacturer TFL is said to restrict rising temperatures on leather surfaces.

Leather treated with Cool Tec doesn’t absorb sun rays but rather reflects near infrared radiation, preventing dark leather from getting as hot as it otherwise would.

The most significant effect can be achieved with black and dark shades, the company said, for which temperature reduction can be up to 25° C.

“The system is based on a sun reflective technology where energy is reflected in the invisible part of the solar spectrum,” the company said, allowing black leathers to reflect sunlight the way white leather typically does.
