Decline of 16% in Bangladesh leather exports
The leather industry in Bangladesh brought in export revenues of just over $700 million in the first ten months of the current financial year, July 2019 to April 2020. This represents a decline of 16% year on year.
Exports of finished leather contributed $90.5 million towards the total, but this figure represents a decline of almost 40%. Shipments of leather shoes brought in $413.1 million, down by almost 16%.
However, exports of leathergoods remained steady, bringing in $197.3 million over the ten-month period, a fall of less than 1%.
