US hide exports fall by more than 20%

US packers and traders exported 6.4 million wet-salted hides in the first five months of 2020, earning $240.5 million. These figures represent a decline of 24% in volume and of 31% in value compared to the same months in 2019.
Tanners shipped more than 1.35 million wet blue hides over the same period, bringing in export revenues of $141.6 million. Volumes fell by 23% year on year and values declined by 24%.
