Automotive group Toyota has announced sales of more than 6.8 million vehicles in the first nine months of its current business year, the period ending December 31.

Toyota said this figure represents an increase of almost 2% compared to the same period a year earlier.

The group reported increases in vehicle sales in Japan, North America and Europe, but a decrease in Asian markets excluding its home country. It said it would stick with a forecast of sales of 8.95 million vehicles for its full business year, which ends on March 31.
