Chinese demand led to record year for Argentinean beef
Argentina’s main beef industry representative body, Ciccra, has said the country exported its highest-ever volume of beef in 2019, with the total reaching 567,500 tonnes.
In recent comments, Ciccra market analyst, Ignacio Iriarte, said fully 25% of this export volume went to China, but he warned that shipments to that country have stopped because of the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
Mr Iriarte said the market for Argentinean beef in China had come to a halt. “There is no business to be done at the moment,” he said.
