Applications for "Cow in the Car" funding due
February 14 was the deadline for “Cow in the Car” applications submitted Rwanda’s National Industrial Research and Development Agency (NIRDA). The program is aimed at entities engaged in the cow value chain business in need of funding to upgrade equipment.
Claire Mukeshimana, NIRDA’s acting director-general, said that the project was intended to help support the emergence of new industries, and help livestock farmers understand the value of the cow beyond the meat and milk.
The program will help firms and innovators purchase and make use technology (including equipment, tools, machines and software) as a repayable facility with no fees, interest or collatoral.
Applicants must be established within the cow value chain (including abattoirs, hides and skins collection, leather production and leather goods and footwear producers) with at least 3 years’ experience.
Visit the NIRDA website, www.nirda.gov.rw, for an application and more information.
