Lanxess develops solutions for Indian market

23/01/2020
Leather chemicals maker Lanxess has developed a solution specifically for India’s leather market which is said to increase the efficiency of beamhouse operations processes and reduce basic chemicals and wastewater pollution.

The process, based on Peltec C and Blancorol HP,  can reduce the amount of total dissolved solids and achieve high-quality leather at the same time, according to Thomas Brackemeyer, who is responsible for global organic leather chemicals in the Lanxess business unit.

The company has also released Peltec X-Zyme SN, a soaking enzyme designed to improve chemical oxygen demand value. Because this product does not exhibit proteolytic activity, Lanxess said, it does not affect the collagen itself and is therefore also safe to use in a longer soaking process. A liming enzyme, Peltec UEP, supports unhairing by loosening the hair roots and cleans the grain, resulting in the use of less sulfide during the liming process.

Lanxess will be showcasing its product range at the India International Leather Fair in Chennai, India.
