Figures from the US Department of Agriculture show total cattle slaughter in the US in the first 11 months of 2019 of more than 30.3 million head. Compared to the corresponding period the year before, this represents an increase of 1.3%.

Over the same period, US packers sent almost 530,000 calves to slaughter, up by 2.1% year on year.

There was little change in the number of sheepskins coming onto the market from the US, with the total reaching a little over 1.8 million, but goatskins increased in availability by more than 6%, reaching 493,000.
