Leather manufacturer Muirhead travelled to Sydney in early December to display its collection of upholstery leather for customers in the mass transit sector at the AusRail 2019 conference and exhibition.

The company’s mass transit collection has attracted clients from all over the world in the bus, coach and rail sectors. At the start of the event in Australia, the company said: “Many manufacturers and operators are choosing Muirhead leather to replicate and even enhance the level of luxury and comfort of their customers’ own ‘in-car’ experience.”

It said the inclusion of its low-carbon leather in carriages enhances the level of luxury and comfort of the passenger environment and increases the durability, cleanliness and overall longevity of the seat covering, meaning lower maintenance and refurbishment costs.

Earlier this year, Muirhead reported that an agreement to use its leather to cover 15,500 seats on trains in Ireland would save the operator, Iarnród Éireann, €3.2 million over the life of the project.
