Far East investors welcome in India’s leather industry

02/12/2019
India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE) has unveiled plans to attract investment in its member companies from the Far East.

Chairman, Aqeel Ahmed, has told CLE members that the Indian leather industry would benefit greatly from foreign direct investment from, and new joint ventures with, partners from China, Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea or Japan.

Input from those countries would also help Indian leather manufacturers bring new technology and product innovation into their businesses, Mr Ahmed said.

CLE held an investment promotion event in Taiwan at the end of October and has plans to repeat the exercise in other places in the Far East in the near future.
