Turkey could invest in Bangladesh leather sector

Bangladesh and Turkey have held discussions on mutual cooperation in trade and industry, aimed at increasing bilateral trade. Part of the discussion centred on investment from Turkey in the Bangladesh leather industry.

Talks took place in Ankara in mid-November between Turkey’s vice-president, Fuat Oktay, and Bangladesh’s finance minister, Mustafa Kamal. Mr Kamal said exports from his country to Turkey had increased from $400 million per year in 2010 to $1 billion now, but he said this could grow to $3 billion if trade barriers come down.
