Brazil’s leather exports fall in value by 20%

Brazil’s tanners exported a slightly higher volume of finished leather, crust and wet blue in the first nine months of 2019 than in the same period last year.

Between January and September this year, Brazil shipped 107 million square-metres of leather to export markets, up by 0.8% year on year. Of the total, 45.3% was finished, 7.1% crust and 47.6% wet blue.

In terms of value, these exports brought in $873.7 million, which represents a decline year on year of 20.4%.
