PTA wants growth in Pakistan-Bangladesh leather trade

Twelve tanners from Pakistan travelled to Dhaka to take part in the 2019 edition of the Bangladesh Leather Tech Fair (October  31-November 2).

Companies taking part were Hussain Leather Craft, Hafiz Tannery, Siddiq Leather Works, Pelle Classics, Universal Leather, MIMA Leather, HMB Tanneries, Prime Tanning Industries,  Shafi (Pvt) Ltd, Multan Hide Co, Leathertex Tanneries and Khawaja Tanneries.

The chairman of the Pakistan Tanners’ Association, Sheikh Afzal Hussain, said in the build-up to the exhibition that the association hoped to increase bilateral trade in leather and leather products between the two countries.

He said the current level of two-way trade is around $18.5 million per year and called for greater co-operation on both sides to grow this total.
