Positive signs for Paraguayan beef

24/10/2019
Paraguay will receive authorisation to begin beef exports to Saudi Arabia and to Turkey before the end of 2019, the head of the South American country’s national animal quality and health service, José Carlos Martín, has said.

On top of that, he said an investigation team from the US will visit Paraguay in the first six months of 2020 with a view to inspecting, and if all goes well, approving Paraguayan packer plants as exporters to the US.

Japan and the European Union are other markets that, according to Mr Martín, could soon source meat from Paraguay.

Exports of beef from Paraguay were stopped in most markets after an outbreak of foot and mouth disease there in September 2011.
