Employment project will aim peripheral communities, Marfrig says

Packer and tanning group Marfrig has launched a recruitment campaign in the city of Várzea Grande in Mato Grosso, specifically aiming to hire people from areas with high levels of unemployment and deprivation.

Marfrig is working with the local authorities to identify areas in the city with the highest levels of unemployment to select candidates and begin to train them for work.

The city authorities will help by making sure public transport networks expand to help these new recruits travel to and from their place of work.

Marfrig’s human resources manager for South America, Jairo Agosta, said the initiative was a way of taking direct action to help communities close to where the company operates.
