China’s appetite for Australian beef on the up

Australian beef exports to China grew by almost 75% in the first nine months of 2019, reaching 200,000 tonnes.

Japan is still the biggest export market for Australian beef and packer firms and traders shipped 217,000 tonnes to Japan between January and September. This is 7% down on the figure for the same months in 2018.

There was growth also in Australian beef exports to the US, reaching 187,000 tonnes for the nine months, 4%  up year on year.
