Kazakhstan has beef and mutton ‘powerhouse’ potential, World Bank says

According to the World Bank, countries in central Asia, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan, are in a good position to grow their meat exports but should invest and work together to establish “world-class animal-product safety standards”.

In a recent announcement, the World Bank said: “By working together, countries could achieve significant results. We see several areas for potential regional cooperation in agriculture and livestock.”

It said such co-operation could start with countries exchanging information about their plans for modernising animal-product safety standards and protocols, so that reforms could be synchronised. Making national standards more compatible with global practices would also help, it said.

“Kazakhstan has the potential to become a global beef and mutton exporting powerhouse,” the World Bank said.
