ZDHC ‘reward’ for Smit & Zoon

Leather chemicals manufacturer Smit & Zoon has achieved certification that shows its Dutch-made products meet all requirements connected to the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) campaign.

Smit branded wet-end products, manufactured in the Netherlands, have received level-three certification from ZDHC; certification of the rest of the company’s portfolio, including products made by Italian subsidiary, Codyeco, is scheduled for next year.

“To be named one of the leading companies [in the move] towards a more sustainable supply chain by a respected organisation like ZDHC is a great reward for our effort,” Smit & Zoon said on announcing the news. “It is now up to the brands to continue to drive sustainability and to ensure that consumers get leather products from trusted sources.”
