Massive German shoe and leathergoods outlet to open 2021
Describing it as Germany’s largest outlet center for shoes and leathergoods, leather retailer and entrepreneur Rolf Schäfer is behind the planning of a 6,000 m² shoe outlet slated to open spring 2021. Schuhstadt Pirmasens will be in Pirmasens, a city in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, famous for its history of shoe manufacturing.
Organisers reported that most of the space was let within weeks of announcing the project. The shopping center was granted permission to be open 40 Sundays a year, which is not typical under German retail laws.
To build the new shopping centre, organisers said they tore down an entire district and are building Schuhstadt Pirmasens (Schuhstadt translates into ‘shoe city’) in the style of an old shoe factory.
