Fall in French hide exports to key markets

French leather sector body, the Conseil National du Cuir, has said the country’s exports of hides fell by 33% in the first six months of 2019.

Almost 75% of exports of French hides goes to Italy, but in the first six months of 2019, shipments to Italy were down by 35%.

There were also falls in other key markets, including China, downy by 26% compared to the same period last year, Spain, down by 21%, and Germany, down by 38%.
