Argentina takes top spot in beef exports to China

Figures for the first seven months of 2019 suggest that Argentinean packers shipped more than 185,000 tonnes of beef to China with a value of $870 million.

These figures represent a doubling in value for Argentina compared to the same period in 2018, and the country has overtaken its neighbour Brazil in supplying China with beef.

Over the seven months, 21.7% of the beef China imported came from Argentina. The figure for Brazil was 21%.
