Ecuador export breakthrough for Brazilian cattle farmers

Negotiations that began in 2014 came to a successful conclusion in mid-September when the authorites in Ecuador gave clearance for Brazil to begin exporting live cattle to that market.

Brazil’s exports of live cattle to all markets had a value of $535 million in 2018, while exports of beef had a value of $6.5 billion. Brazil’s official position is that exporting live cattle broadens the export options available to its livestock farmers.
