October deadline for applications for €60,000 SME funding
11/09/2019
This will be the third group of Worth projects, for which funding has come from Cosme, a platform the European Commission set up in 2014 to help small and medium enterprises become more competitive and secure a successful future. Cosme comes to a conclusion in 2020.
Worth Partnership initiatives have to involve small and medium enterprises from at least two of the qualifying countries working together. In addition to the EU 28, Iceland, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey, Moldova, Ukraine and Armenia have ‘Cosme-associated country’ status. Specifically, Worth ideas must come from the fashion, textile, footwear, furniture, leather, jewellery and accessories sectors. This link gives detailed information on how to participate.
A number of leather-focused projects won funding in the first two tranches of Worth. These have included Fishskinlab, a collection of clutch bags (see image) made from fish leather as a result of a partnership involving Icelandic tannery Atlantic Leather, London-based Spanish designer Elisa Palomino and Italian finished product manufacturer Campomaggi.
Other examples have included a Spanish-Italian project to build tracking devices and panic buttons into leather handbags and an Italian-Swedish initiative to offer asylum-seekers work making leather accessories.
Winning projects receive seed-funding of €10,000, help with media activity, participation at two international events, mentoring, training and access to networking events. The Worth Partnership Project values this at a total of €60,000.
