Bloomberg highlights ‘hides with no value’

In comments it gave at the start of August to business media group Bloomberg, it said 20% of its current inventory is in warehouses and the company said it fears this material has become worthless.
“There are hides with no value,” said Joe Brannan, manager of export sales. “We’re throwing a natural product in the garbage.”
Commenting on the Bloomberg report, the president of the US Hide, Skin and Leather Association, Stephen Sothmann, said it was “a sad, but largely accurate account of the current situation in the leather industry in the US and globally”.
