CLE celebrates success of east Africa visit
05/08/2019
CLE has explained that one of the big attractions of cementing business ties in this part of the world is that these African countries have “a huge raw material base” with a large livestock population.
By CLE’s calculation the countries the group of Indian leather manufacturers visited, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda, account for around 20% of global production of hides and skins. The organisation said it sees “immense scope for cooperation” between partners in the African countries and Indian tanners and finished leather product manufacturers.
Commenting on the visit, Aqeel Ahmed, said: “I am sure that the visit of our Indian leather sector delegation to Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda will serve as a milestone for enhancing business relationships between India and east African countries in the leather sector.”
