31/07/2019
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has confirmed federally inspected cattle slaughter of close to 16.3 million head in the first six months of 2019.

This total represents an increase of 1.3% compared to the same months in 2018.

In 2019, the average live weight per head was almost 608 kilos, which is very slightly (0.7%) less than the corresponding figure last year.

Beef production at federally inspected plants over the six-month period reached 5.9 million tonnes in 2019, flat with the figure for the same period last year.
