Mexico has the quality to boost its footwear exports

Mexico’s shoe manufacturers produce around 260 million pairs per year and, at the moment, export only about 10% of that total.
According to the president of CICEG, the main footwear industry body in the state of Guanajuato, Luis Gerardo González García, Roland Berger’s analysis of the industry so far indicates that the proportion of Mexican-made shoes going for export could increase to 25% or 30% in the next ten years.
“This industry has the capacity and the quality to boost these export figures,” Mr González García said.
