India’s leather exports hold up well

Exports of leather and related goods from India held up well in the most recently completed financial year.

The Council for Leather Exports (CLE) has revealed export revenues of almost $5.7 billion for the financial year that ran from April 2018 to March 2019. This represents a decline of just under 0.9% compared to 2017-2018.

Finished leather exports fell in value by 17% to reach $721.7 million, while leather garment exports declined in value by 9.7% to reach $468.5 million. However, leather footwear exports held their value at almost $2.2 billion.
