Argentina: construction of new tanning district underway

Work is underway to construct a new tanning district in the Argentinian district of Lanus, just south of Buenos Aires, according to local media reports.

As well as space for a reported 60 companies, the cluster will also have a wastewater treatment plant, an attempt to avoid pollution of the nearby Riachuelo river.

Reports say that 25 companies from within the leather sector have already agreed to move to this new site.
