Audi optimistic despite fall in deliveries in first half

German automotive group Audi delivered around 906,200 vehicles during the first six months of 2019, a decrease of 4.5% compared to the same period of last year.

“The first half of the year was still dominated by numerous challenges such as model changeovers with volume models and the delayed effects of the WLTP switchover,” said Martin Sander, who was head of Audi’s sales and marketing division during the first half of the year.

He went on to say that the group’s results in June, when it delivered 1.7% more vehicles than in the previous year, made it optimistic that the second half of 2019 will be more positive.

In the period to the end of June, deliveries to China increased 1.9% year-on-year to 312,502 vehicles. This was a record first-half performance.

Deliveries to the US market fell 6%, while there was a 4.5% fall in the number of deliveries to European countries.
