COTANCE to publish new environmental report

COTANCE, the leather industry’s representative body in the European Union, is to publish a new social and environmental report.

It published its first social and environmental report for the European leather industry in 2012 and says it now wants to see how much progress the industry has made since then. To this end, it is in the process of collecting data on social responsibility and environmental performance from tanneries all over Europe.

“Tanners in Europe have made a big step towards sustainability,” COTANCE said on announcing that it will publish the new report. “They are not yet there with zero pollution, but that is the ambition.”
